I believe buildings should be rooted in place, respect their environment, and fit into their site rather than on top of it.  The "Spirit of Place" project brings together my amateur photography capturing the spirit of different locations I have visited.
In particular, I am inspired by the Shinto idea that divine spirits reside inside natural objects like certain trees, mountains, or bodies of water.  The human relationship to the land is honored and nature is revered.
